As we start a new year, we can’t help but think back to June 2020, the month when the initial lockdown ended, and the housing market reopened.

From buyers getting back on track after their housing journey had been stalled, to those who decided they needed a home better suited to their needs after spending so much time there, the housing market very quickly made a strong recovery. 

It remained strong throughout the rest of the year and, towards the end of 2020, we started to see fewer homes coming onto the market but the same number of buyers, creating conditions for sellers to thrive.  But what will 2021 have in store?

As the market toughens existing home owners may be more reluctant to bring their homes to market. And, with many housebuilders now forward sold well into 2021, new-build homes may not be ready for customers to move into for quite some time.
